Amelia Mulkey

Director/Performer

Amelia Mulkey has always been involved in show business. The child of two actors, she grew up on sets, produced Venice Beach style fairytale remakes with the neighborhood kids, and got cut out of her first film at the ripe age of five.

In college, Mulkey earned her degree in art history and has kept one toe in the art world ever since. Her films screen in galleries and are greatly informed by feminist art theory.

After school she spent a few years as an actress, but quickly transitioned into being behind the camera. She got her filmmaking education working as a producing director’s assistant on hour long dramas for FOX, ABC, and TNT.

After her time in television, Mulkey moved to San Francisco where she started to direct her own films and commercials. These efforts were well received and eventually grew into a production company, The Clock Factory.

In San Francisco she also found her performing niche- doing character comedy in cabarets. This scene and style continue to influence her work today.

Currently, Mulkey is living in Venice California, raising her two children and transitioning into directing narrative work. These efforts include a short film, Momchild and applying for television diversity programs. You can see her pushing her feminist agenda in clubs around LA.
